Every carpet repair job is unique. Factors like the type of carpet, the size and location of the damaged area, and the type of damage all play a role in how we approach the repair. In most cases, we cut out stains, rips, holes, or burns and patch the area using donor carpet.

The best donor carpet comes from the same roll installed on the same day as your original carpet. If you didn’t save any extra from the original installation, don’t worry—we can take donor carpet from a hidden area like a closet or underneath furniture. We’ll then replace that spot with a similar carpet (not an exact match, but close enough that no one will notice).

Buying new carpet to use as donor material never works out well. Even if you find the same style, the color usually won’t match due to dye lot variations. Carpet manufacturers refill dye batches during production, which causes subtle shifts in color. That’s why it’s always better to use new carpet to replace the donor spot, not the damaged area.

When carpet rips, we typically patch it using the method above. If the tear is clean and recent, we can sometimes re-seam it without needing donor carpet.

Pet damage is one of the most common repair calls we get. A pet gets locked in a room, can’t open the door (no opposable thumbs—classic mistake), and tries to dig their way out. Sometimes they smell something mysterious and go full excavation mode. And occasionally, pets just get destructive because… well, they’re pets. In most of these cases, we cut out and patch the damaged section with donor carpet.

Carpet can also rip when dragging heavy furniture across it. If the damage only affects the backing, we can re-seam it using professional seam tape and specialized equipment. If the damage goes deeper, we’ll patch it with donor carpet.
